I may or may not be the biggest drama mama on the planet. I was so sad for my kids to go back to school. I cried myself to sleep the night before with my sweet husband holding me trying to comfort me in my hysterical state. So after a week or so I have to admit it is not nearly as much of an "end of the world" situation as I was mentally making it out to be. As a matter of fact they are really enjoying school, and I am surviving too.
Amari was so stinkin' excited she could hardly contain herself! She was so mad that I wanted to drive them on the first day and refused to let me walk her to class. Zeke offered to hold her hand in the hallway and she said "No, I got this." Upon arriving home from her first day she declared "It was the best day of my life!" She is all about kindergarten rules and likes to put her two fingers up to let us know when she needs to go to the bathroom, "that's what we do in class." I had something to take in to her class and she asked if I could just let the mailman bring it. Thank you Amari for making me feel so very loved. I will now go out of my way to embarrass you when I do come to your classroom. Zeke is loving 1st grade. His teachers motto is "No worries" which is exactly the opposite of Zeke's entire way of life. I hope he can worry less with such a sweet and experienced teacher (32 years, automatic sainthood right?). His birthday is coming up soon and Skylanders comes out with a new game just days before his birthday. One of his friends claims to already own this unreleased game. When we were driving home from church today he saw a yard sale sign and asked what a yard sale was. I explained that to him and his brain started to quickly come up with a plan "If Colby has a yard sale and he doesn't want his Skylanders game anymore, and we went to his yard sale, and we had enough money for it, could we buy it?" Yes, if all of those events aligned, yes we would.
Pantera started 5th grade. She was really nervous to have a male home room teacher, but has come to discover that he is quite wonderful. She has already started with the drama for the year. I pray this does not continue. It does seem like she has found more kids that she gets along with now. And one of the mothers of one of her friends works at the school and always tells me how proud she is that Pantera is willing to stand up for what is right. We just need to work on a more sugar coated way to do this. Oh well.
