Seneca is 2

This beautiful little lady turned 2 last week.
Seneca, you truly are a "joy" about 1/2 of the time, hahaha.
You can be the sweetest little thing on the planet, then the biggest stinker a minute later. You are the baby of the family and it definitely shows. You are bossy, sassy, comical, smart, and beautiful.
You are still so mean to your daddy, one of these days you will grow out of that and realize what a wonderful daddy you have. He has loved you through all of the rejection you give him, so you pretty much better be the best teenage girl for your dad...like ever.
On the other hand, you treat me so well. You give me so much love. I am so grateful that you still want to be a baby sometimes and ask me to hold you in a "blabet". Most of the time I need to hold you more than you need to be held. You must just know how much I am going to miss having little babies around, thank you for humoring me.

We love you Seneca!!! Happy Birthday!

You have to say

From the pictures below you would think that Seneca is such a daddy's girl...FALSE!!! She is such a stinker to Jess. If he tells her he loves her she will scoot as close to me as possible to avoid his affection.
Although when mama is cooking and you insist on having a huge pile of material piled on you calling it your "Blaybet" you kind of have to sit with dad or no one.
Luckily she is a wonderful mother herself....
And a scholar. It appears she is currently doing a study on avian behaviors in captivity, at least that is what she told me.

Her finding indicate that birds do not like kisses from slobbery lips. Brilliant!

Katurah has had a tough time with the older kids going to school. She is used to having her best friend Amari home to play/fight with all day long. So she insists I play with her all day long. She is obsessed with Veggie Tales and all of her games consist of acting out scenes from this show. She is in the dreaded "you have to say" phase. You know where they tell you everything you need to repeat to play the game with them and you wonder why you are even there because they are basically playing alone seeing as you have absolutely no input. Maybe it's just my kids, or maybe a girl thing? All I know is you have to say I am over being Bob the Tomatoe.

1st day of school

I may or may not be the biggest drama mama on the planet. I was so sad for my kids to go back to school. I cried myself to sleep the night before with my sweet husband holding me trying to comfort me in my hysterical state. So after a week or so I have to admit it is not nearly as much of an "end of the world" situation as I was mentally making it out to be. As a matter of fact they are really enjoying school, and I am surviving too.
Amari was so stinkin' excited she could hardly contain herself! She was so mad that I wanted to drive them on the first day and refused to let me walk her to class. Zeke offered to hold her hand in the hallway and she said "No, I got this." Upon arriving home from her first day she declared "It was the best day of my life!" She is all about kindergarten rules and likes to put her two fingers up to let us know when she needs to go to the bathroom, "that's what we do in class." I had something to take in to her class and she asked if I could just let the mailman bring it. Thank you Amari for making me feel so very loved. I will now go out of my way to embarrass you when I do come to your classroom.

Zeke is loving 1st grade. His teachers motto is "No worries" which is exactly the opposite of Zeke's entire way of life. I hope he can worry less with such a sweet and experienced teacher (32 years, automatic sainthood right?).  His birthday is coming up soon and Skylanders comes out with a new game just days before his birthday. One of his friends claims to already own this unreleased game. When we were driving home from church today he saw a yard sale sign and asked what a yard sale was. I explained that to him and his brain started to quickly come up with a plan "If Colby has a yard sale and he doesn't want his Skylanders game anymore, and we went to his yard sale, and we had enough money for it, could we buy it?" Yes, if all of those events aligned, yes we would.

Pantera started 5th grade. She was really nervous to have a male home room teacher, but has come to discover that he is quite wonderful. She has already started with the drama for the year. I pray this does not continue. It does seem like she has found more kids that she gets along with now. And one of the mothers of one of her friends works at the school and always tells me how proud she is that Pantera is willing to stand up for what is right. We just need to work on a more sugar coated way to do this. Oh well.
